About Nada Sudha

Velachery is a fast developing suburb of Chennai, where phenomenal growth has taken place in the past 10 years.

Many professionals, especially from the IT and Service sector prefer to live in Velachery due to its proximity to various organizations located in and around Rajiv Gandhi Salai also known as the IT corridor. Similarly many retired persons after a successful career, find Velachery a most convenient place to settle down.

“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy”, goes the popular saying, and these professionals need wholesome entertainment to relax, and so do the retirees who are looking forward to enjoy their retired life.

Sensing this growing need “Nada Sudha”, was formed about 12 years back in Velachery, to cater to the cultural needs of the local residents. Nada Sudha over the years has grown in stature as the only traditional entertainment provider in Velachery for the discerning rasikas.

Nada sudha today boasts of over 200 members, quite a few of them being long term 5 year Donor, or 10 year Patron members. Every year Nada sudha provides a varied fare of about 130+ programs, mainly of Carnatic vocal and instrumental music, Bharat Natyam, Hari katha, Bhajans, Dramas etc.

Every year the major attraction is the Annual music and dance festival, which starts around 24th of December and goes on upto 16th Jan, when senior as well as upcoming artistes are given the stage to perform and entertain the Velachery and other suburb residents. Every year recognition is given in the form of “Nada Vallabha” title, citation and prize money to deserving artistes.

All the programs are conducted in the divine atmosphere in Satguru Sachchidanandha Ashram hall, which has been appreciated by one and all also for the wonderful acoustics, enhancing the listening experience. Any such effort needs continuous support from well wishers and sponsors in the form of financial support, to sustain and grow. We have had the good fortune of just adequate support to carry on the present activities, but we need to build a healthy corpus to establish this sabha on strong footing. We look forward to your support in the form of munificient donations to the corpus, which will be eligible for 80G IT exemption too.
